Probably could have been improved upon with some more frequent recurring characters (as TV producers later learned for this brand of show, looking at you Hercules/Xena, Supernatural..). Two to three seasons of a lead character who never evolves is probably the right amount in the end. Steve McQueen did well as the titular character, really carrying the show on his authentic portrayal.
