Where to Watch The Shining
- fraggle672 september 2025If you want to get the vision that King was going for while writing the book, this is the version that you want to watch. King wrote the screenplay and picked the director, as well as executive-produced. This version takes its time to set up characters and backstories of not just our family, but the story of the overlook and its inhabitants. It's told in 3 sections, (arrival, possession, escape) each getting 90 minutes, and there's so much more as far as details and various dangers that are left out of Kubrick's version. Especially the addiction to alcohol and its effects on Jack's mental state (King was fighting alcoholism while writing this book). I do however miss Nicholson's performance. He sold it, but overall, this is the better version if you're looking for the one that follows the book.

Bestsellerauteur King bewerkte zijn eigen roman tot een ijzersterk en ijzingwekkend scenario dat door zijn vertrouweling Mick Garris (Sleepwalkers, The Stand) op beklemmende wijze verfilmd werd.
