honestly a great show I wasn’t expecting to get this invested in it, but I ended up really liking it I loved the characters and how everyone has their own personality and role in the LAPD John Nolan being the oldest rookie was such a good concept, and I liked seeing him go from rookie to training officer and eventually move further up The cases are usually really interesting too. Some are serious, some are crazy, and some are just completely unexpected I also really liked how the show isn’t ONLY about solving crimes. There’s a lot of character stuff and relationships happening alongside everything Some seasons are definitely better than others, but I never felt like I wanted to completely stop watching it It’s also crazy that after 8 seasons it still feels like there are more stories they can tell Definitely one of my favourite crime shows 9/10

If you feel its lost its way after about season 4, you're not alone. Enjoy it until it stops being enjoyable *to you* then don't feel guilty about dropping it - or expecting it to get its legs back after a few episodes or a season: It doesn't. It keeps trending downward without recovery. Over time it goes from being a good cop show to a soap opera.

Started out with a decent premise but has gone for twice as long as it should. Further, the worst offence, the writing has the women portrayed as men and the men as women. Typical horsecrap for the time and runs into every cliche as if it was written by a feminist team of idealogs roun tabling about "wouldn't it be great if..." The women can do no wrong, the men apologize for everything and are just happy to be with them and their insane behavior, all the while being 110 pounds and some flavor of ex military, special forces or some variation there of. The show takes every opportunity to hit most every woke cliche from stating misogny to girl power to the men should be afraid to we don't have it equal. The writers need to be slapped like the whiney children they are and put a parent in control. Beyond that it's every other cliche and stereotypical BS you can come up with. The bad guys are always white, the Christians are crazy, the women wear the pants, the minorities only do bad because they must or it's not their fault but the systems, the female minorities always have sage level nuggets of wisdom and act is if they're waiting to be met at the conclusion you'll eventually land on, it's all just too woke and dumb in that regard. Basically if they write a man doing man things, he's aloof, misogynistic or frat boy, but if they write the woman doing those things, it's brave and beautiful. Not to mention the ridiculousness of the plot lines later in the show, there's always a shoot out, a serial killer, KGB, drug lord, or some crazy thing happening and wrapped up by the end of the show. It drifted far from its original intent. For Nathan's character, the Pennsylvania boy with the aww shucks gee whiz attitude, I've never disliked him but he seems to play the same character in everything he does. In this one, his wife Bailey is insufferable and easily the worst character on the show gaslighting and emasculating any chance she gets while treating conversations like a minefield for her partner. She's the worst. The show is cheeseball, first few seasons are OK, but it's at best a background distraction while you do anything else more meaningful but someone please slap the writers.

American cops should be like this, but unfortunately they aren’t... I’ve never seen a series that is as black-and-white as this one. The ‘good guys’ are portrayed in such an unnaturally perfect way, while the ‘bad guys’ are made out to be unbelievably evil. At the beginning, the first few seasons were still somewhat entertaining, but by now it’s just boring because there’s always a happy ending — or it turns into a wokeness-cringe overload. This series definitely cured my FOMO because it’s the first one I actually quit. That’s what the half star is for.

I love the rookie. I didn’t know I was gonna be so addicted to it for a very long time. It’s mostly my favourite show. I ever watched every single day and I hope one day I can meet the rookie cast that’s one of my most dreams to ever do and I live so far away from them I live in Canada and they live in USA. I really wish I could go and visit them. I love the rookie so much it has changed me through the toughest moments and helped me

Is it the show of the year? No. But it’s a great binge watch with likable characters and realistic situations, sometimes happening so often that it starts to feel a little unlikely overall. Still, I really enjoyed it. The characters grow meaningfully between seasons, and the world around them evolves in a natural, organic way. Highly recommended!

It's a police procedural. Like its contemporaries, you may find it difficult to ignore how it's the same 6 beat cops getting in massive gunfights every week. The storytelling is slightly more nuanced sometimes, and while it does occasionally dare to approach being critical toward some police practices, it pulls back pretty quickly. We in the biz call this "cop slop". It definitely does not reinvent the genre, but Fillion is great as usual and the rest of the cast is a good accompaniment. It's another cheap margarita show: fun to consume, maybe to poke fun at a bit, but probably not going to measurably improve your life. All that said, still definitely has its place and everyone could use a margarita every now and then.
