I wasn’t planning to try the live-action version either, but after hearing so many friends rave about it, I finally gave in and gave it a shot. I’m really glad I did. The show is delightfully bizarre in all the right ways, embracing its world with confidence and charm. By the final two episodes of Season 2, it even managed to hit some genuine emotional highs—I didn’t expect to be as moved as I was. While I can’t compare it to the original story, I can say this adaptation was a sincere and very pleasant surprise, and an absolute joy to watch. I’m genuinely looking forward to Season 3.

- Richard18 oktober 2025Only knew this world from the games, pirates, powers, and chaos. Never watched the anime, never read the manga. Picked up the live action out of curiosity and yeah… they nailed it in my opinion. Monkey D. Luffy is a rubber powered optimist with a dream and the cast brings him and his crew to life with real charm. The tone walks a tightrope: goofy, heartfelt and surprisingly grounded. The sets look lived in, the fights are fun and the world building feels rich without being overwhelming. Iñaki Godoy as Luffy is a standout pure energy and heart. Emily Rudd’s Nami adds depth and even Buggy the Clown works. Watched it as an adult, expecting cringe. Got adventure, emotion and a crew I actually cared about.
