Wind River is a truly compelling crime story. The script is smartly written, and the performances are all excellent, especially Elizabeth Olsen's. This is arguably her most powerful and nuanced work since Martha Marcy May Marlene. Taylor Sheridan, known for writing impressive screenplays like Sicario and Hell or High Water, delivers a striking directorial debut with Wind River. He masterfully crafts a tense and atmospheric thriller that keeps you hooked until the very end. I'm eager to see what he does next, as he's clearly a rising force in cinema. One of the things I appreciated most about "Wind River" is that it avoids the typical serial killer trope. Instead, the film explores a tragic set of circumstances fueled by poor choices and the harsh realities of life on a Native American reservation. There's no elaborate conspiracy, no shadowy figure stalking the protagonists, just a raw and deeply unsettling depiction of how desperation and systemic issues can intersect with devastating consequences. This approach effectively highlights the true nature of the problem: it's not about a few inherently evil individuals, but rather a multitude of challenges faced by the community. Poverty, isolation, lack of resources, and historical trauma all contribute to an environment where violence can easily erupt. Wind River doesn't shy away from portraying these complexities, making it a powerful and thought-provoking film.

One of the film’s greatest strengths is that it avoids falling into typical genre clichés. Instead of focusing solely on the mystery, it highlights the social circumstances and the context in which the story unfolds, addressing themes such as isolation, lack of resources, and the consequences of a system that fails those who need it most.

I would like to add the Marlin 1895SBL onto the list of most 'badass guns in cinema history'. Very enjoyable from beginning to end.

There is a meadow in my perfect world where wind dances the branches of a tree, casting leopard spots of light across the face of a pond... The tree stands tall and grand and alone, shading the world beneath it. There will come a day when i rest against its spine and look out over a valley where the sun warms, but never burns..... I will watch leaves turn Green, then amber, then crimson. Then no leaves at all.... But the tree will not die For in this place, winter never comes.... It is here, in the cradle of all I hold dear, I guard every memory of you. And when I find myself frozen in the mud of the real, far from your loving eyes.... I will return to this place, close mine, and take solace in the simple perfection of knowing you.

Well done, but tragic, since most of the terrible assaults on indigenous womyn are preventable.

tight and icy tribal reservation thriller to watch during a snow storm. A hidden gem with tense atmosphere which builds up slowly to several explosive, perfectly choreographed, violent scenes.

I've watched it 5 times, and I somehow like it more every time. Maybe the 6th viewing will make it a 10?

Excellent movie and a great story. I don't really like Jeremy Renner, but he knocked this one out of the park.
