Where to Watch The Six Triple Eight
- Jkrilin5 januari 2025“6 Triple 8” is a powerful film that pays tribute to the forgotten heroism of the 6888th Battalion of the Women’s Army Corps during World War II. Led by Major Charity Adams, masterfully played by Kerry Washington, this group of more than 800 African-American women defied the adversities of a racist society and global conflict to bring hope to millions of soldiers. The stellar cast brings depth and humanity to this true story: Ebony Obsidian as Lena Derriecott King shows the more personal side of the battalion, while Oprah Winfrey as Mary McLeod Bethune and Susan Sarandon as Eleanor Roosevelt elevate the narrative by connecting this story to the social changes of the time. Dean Norris and Sam Waterston also bring key historical perspective with their roles as General Halt and Franklin Roosevelt, respectively. With thrilling storytelling, powerful performances and impeccable historical recreation, "6 Triple 8" is not only a war film, but also an inspiring tale of perseverance and justice. This film makes you reflect on sacrifice, the impact of unity and the strength of those who fought to change history. If you had been part of the 6888th Battalion, what do you think would have been the hardest thing for you: facing discrimination or working under pressure to accomplish an impossible mission?
- ርልዪረ20 februari 2025Six Triple Eight gets 4.5 stars. Had Tyler Perry spent less time setting up the story through an individual's wartime romance and more time showing how the African-American female army batallion actually got millions of mail pieces routed and delivered as a true workplace miracle, it would get 5 or more stars. Perry often blows by interesting actual history in favor of sideshow character relationships adding little heft to his stories, but even so this film tells us how against all odds, these women contributed mightily to the war effort. Kerry Washington as battalion commander Charity Adams, the country's highest ranking African-American female officer during World War II, gives an Oscar-worthy performance, at times electrifying, which depicts what leadership is all about in the face of terrible racism. Ebony Obsidian, as a young recruit who joins the army after losing her boy friend in the war, also gives a fine performance as she illustrates the value of the battalion's work. Dean Norris as the general in overall command effectively presents the ugly racist face of what these women had to deal with in the army. The film is solid in all aspects, and the scene when the African-American male and female soldiers meet socially to dance stands out as one worth rewinding. Six Triple Eight is about real people, and the interviews at the end with several women who served plus the Charity Adams final life chapter are compelling. This is a must-watch piece of US history.
