The Lobster Ratings & Reviews
- tnt.psd10 juli 2025The disabled limp guy got with the girl from The End of the F*ing World. It’s not fair. Overall, I like this one—very weird, freaky, as per usual with this director. Hopefully The K*lling of a Sacred Deer will be better… or worse. Léa Seydoux is in this, which means I’m going to have to extend this review with blatant lusting. I’ll come up with something crazy to say later, but right now I need to bike 20 miles—because I bike 20 miles every night while watching movies. The most unrealistic shit about this movie is that nobody wanted to get with Léa Seydoux, and that she’s the leader of the Loners. What’s wrong with these people? Have they gone insane? Being the only rational person in an irrational world is truly hell.
- macaronz19 april 2026The Lobster is definitely one of those films that stays with you long after the credits roll because there is nothing else quite like it. It’s an incredibly unique concept in a near-future world where singles have 45 days to find a partner or be transformed into an animal of their choice. It strikes a perfect, uneasy balance between deadpan dark comedy and genuine disturbance. I still find myself revisiting it, and it never loses its strange charm. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience.
- gnrrain26 maart 2026Dry. Deadpan. Stilted. These are a few words I would use to describe the acting in this movie. This isn't necessarily a negative, especially if you've ever seen any of Yorgos Lanthimos' other movies - this is par for the course. It's unique. It's odd. It's chock full of strangeness. Is it good? I think that'll wholly depend on what you're looking to have for your movie experience. If you are looking for crazy metaphorical diatribe coupled with an absolute flair for "what the hell" moments - this will fulfill that itch easily. If you are looking for anything other than what I just described - don't watch this. It's not for you.
- makdelart11 december 2025This is neither dystopia nor metaphor, but a collection of scenes that were meant to be strange and shocking, resulting in gibberish to which someone will always attach ideology, allegory, or quotation.
- Werusia18 juli 2025Its a "good" movie, the premise is good, too bad I found it really boring.
- Sam1 december 2025the only way you can tell this is a dystopian story is that he cant choose to be bisexual
- M08Y20 augustus 2025The Lobster is a facinating journey into the social pressures to be something spesific, in this case either happily in a relationship or happily alone. This film handles the social extremeism on the subject subtly but without ever losing sight of what it's trying to say. The world of The Lobster is... seriously strange. Is this done to illustrate the insanity of social peer pressure? Who knows? Not I. There are many aspects of this film that I feel like I'm only just seeing the edges of but am yet to grasp fully. The bluray looked and sounded perfectly fine. Cast was very strong and the pacing was excellent.
- Marshall Evetts18 augustus 2025Interesting movie. Colin and the rest of the cast are great. I would watch this again if it was on TV randomly some Sunday
- Kevin Ward2 juli 2025Yorgos is such a freak and I’m here for it. He loves to utilize absurdist narratives as a way of holding a mirror up to the audience and reveal how ridiculous we are. In The Lobster he reflects our absurd societal norms regarding courtships, relationships, and marriage back at us and it is absolutely hilarious. The cast is stellar, wonderfully delivering, Yorgos’ signature deadpan dialogue. Colin Farrell, Olivia Colman, and Rachel Weisz are just perfect in every scene. Love Lanthimos’ work so much.
- Mik14 mei 2025Maybe I liked it, maybe I hated it. Who knows? Not me.
- Kit Lazer9 april 2025It’s such a funny but unpleasant watch, but it gets so wonderful as soon as you start thinking/reading about it. Full discussion soon on Streaming Things podcast.
