The Kingdom Ratings & Reviews
- springstone16 november 2025Probably the most true story ever told, and so under rated. This is a great exploration of reality in the Middle East. Great performances, superb production… this movie deserves much greater recognition. Living here for the past 20 years I can confirm that this is all real.
- jackmeat12 januari 2026My quick rating - 7.2/10. This one sounds familiar, and if it is the one I am thinking of, I know it is good stuff. Yes, this definitely was the flick I was thinking of. The film does a great job of giving solid action that is choreographed very well, along with laying down a political commentary to back it up. The cast was solid top to bottom, with no single person standing out, so why not name the main players? The movie begins with an attack on a foreign compound in Riyadh, where over a hundred people are killed along with Francis Manner (Kyle Chandler), the FBI's head Saudi Arabia Agent. Special agent Fleury (Jamie Foxx) takes the law into his own hands and leads a team of agents to investigate the attack. With team mates Adam Leavitt (Jason Bateman), Janet Mayes (Jennifer Garner), and Grant Sykes (Chris Cooper) with him, he hopes to discover who is responsible. They eventually gain the trust of a Saudi Police officer, Al Ghazi (Ashraf Barhom), whom they work with to find the enemy. The group gets into a serious skirmish that leads to some roadblocks (no spoilers). They return home emotionally distraught. The relationship formed between Barhom and Foxx plays out believably on screen, showing initial turmoil that leads to mutual respect. Even though you are fully aware this is a movie, at times it still feels like a documentary due to the incredible location filming, along with the camera work conveying the situations. I believe this one went way under-appreciated upon release for some reason, which I am not sure why, since it truly is a captivating flick. It keeps the conflict looking very real and violent as it needs to be. Maybe the realism in that violence is what caused it not to be well-received. I am not sure. Either way, if interested in these types of flix, this one is a must-see.
