The Hidden Ratings & Reviews
- Jacob O’Neal2 dgn geledenWritten by Jim Kouf (National Treasure, Rush Hour, Stakeout) Directed by Jack Sholder (A Nightmare On Elm Street 2, Wishmaster 2) Starring Kyle McLaughlin (Twin Peaks), Michael Nouri (Flashdance), Claudia Christian (Babylon 5), Clu Gulager (Elm Street 2) This movie was a low budget science fiction movie about a body swapping alien with a love of loud music and murder. It is, in a way, all about desire for the alien. If he desires something then he takes it. If he wants a car, food, power, whatever, he will not let anything get in his way. The only person who can stop the alien is Kyle McLaughlin who partners with Michael Nouri and tries to kill the alien before it’s too late. The 1980’s are all over this movie. And that’s a good thing. The film had a small budget but it doesn’t stop itself from having some car chases, big outdoor scenes with lots of extras though the city, even scenes in a hospital. Budgets meant nothing to determined low budget filmmakers. They found a way. It made even the cheesy movies look better than the low budget films of today. Performance wise, this film holds up very well. The movie is stacked with talented performers you’ll recognize in small parts, like Lynn Shea, sister of Robert, the film’s producer. McLaughlin and Nouri anchor the film well. The script worked well and direction was solid. Sure, Sholder made a weird and very gay Freddy movie that was not well received before this. At the time that could have killed his career but Shea still hired him again because he knew the man had talent. He did well with the small budget, making for some fun set pieces and low budget action. I am trying to keep from talking too much about the plot as this is kind of a hidden gem. For those that haven’t seen it, I don’t want to spoil it. This movie is a lot of fun with great performances. It deserves to be seen. There is a sequel pretty disconnected from the original. I’m gonna try and find it and watch it again for the first time in decades. But this one really holds up. Check it out.
- Magnus Carlbaum17 augustus 2025Here it is. The most underrated Sci fi movie of all time. It's a completely wild chase through L.A after a parasitic body swapping alien. It has everything you never thought you wanted out of a movie. It's a script fueled by cocaine and rock n roll, and whoever green lit this project should be awarded a medal. This movie makes everything and anything else in the world look bland and grey. It's so infectious that you can't help start rooting for the anarchistic, power hungry and unhinged alien. You want to go shot for shot with this alien in a bar, just to see if you'll survive the night. I simply can't grasp why this movie hasn't become a more widespread cult phenomena, like Carpenters The Thing. It deserves so much more. Watch it. I mean it.
- Shamus2k26 juni 2025The Hidden is a fun, overlooked sci-fi action thriller from the ’80s—exactly the kind of movie you’d grab from the video store bottom shelf on a Friday night after all the popular titles were gone. It’s mildly surprising and entertaining in a pulpy, retro way, though not quite a hidden gem. Still, it’s worth a watch if you’re a fan of alien mayhem and missed it the first time around.
- tmcgi23 april 2026Fun loving homicidal alien steals Ferraris and our hearts during his murderous crime spree as he jumps from body to body until he jumps into a strippers body and bangs a guy to death to the sound track of 80s Indy rock/punkand eventualy is tracked down and killed by an alien FBI agent from the planet Dune. Awarded best movie opening ever by the cool kids of the 80s.

- Michael Heimgartner2 februari 20257/10 – A Solid 80s Sci-Fi Thriller The Hidden is a gem of 80s sci-fi horror, blending action, mystery, and suspense. The high-speed opening grabs attention, and the film maintains an engaging pace. Kyle MacLachlan and Michael Nouri deliver strong performances, while the script and action sequences hold up well. Despite familiar tropes, it feels original and well-crafted with a satisfying ending. A solid watch!
