Great movie! Special effects are still amazing, especially considering the movie is now almost 40 years old.

One of the best sci-fi movies ever made.

Fantastic scifi. Man, you just have to love Cameron.

I watched the nearly 3 hour cut. Wow, talk about a movie that doesn't know when to knock it off. Starts incredibly strong but, in trying to do too much, it ends up just fizzling out.

Just watched it for the first time. Very entertaining movie. Didn’t expect it to be as long as it was, but I enjoyed it.

You give James Cameron a story about a boat and let him cook, you rarely end up with something bad. The man is just a bonafide boat enjoyer. This one is a little heavy on the tropes at times, but stops short of being completely predictable. The tension it builds is well-paced and has an excellent payoff. The accurate depiction of liquid ventilation for use in high depth immersion diving was very memorable.

They don't make movies likes these anymore. Too bad.

The Abyss is a great movie. Considering that is made in '89 it's beautiful. If you are searching for a bloody / splatter movie, you will be really disappointed because this is not what The Abyss want to give you. But I love it

A tier SciFi acting is a time a little over cooked, but fantastic movie

A diver movie with excellent CGI and cinematography that holds up today, (Even in 4:3) falls short for me with the narrative direct story. The deaths are revivals of those important deaths are easily predictable and enduring to watch. A classic 80s movie that everyone should watch, but may need quite the buffer time to personally rewatch in an annual period.

A classic Cameron sci-fi thriller. The 4K Special Edition is the best way to enjoy it in full in a home theater setup. The upscale is truly a work of passion. The griminess of the earlier digital version is gone. The colors are rich and HDR range is spot on. Even after nearly four decades it still holds up as one of the most memorable sci-fi to come out of the 80s. Some hokey acting and dialogue; but that is also his signature isn’t it? 😅
