Holy shit the restoration on this Criterion release is gorgeous. Love the concept, love the acting, love the direction, love the set design, love the cinematography. The subtle dramatics of the first act are so funny. And the score throughout is perfect. Unsure where this is in the chronology of similar plots but it definitely feels unique! Like a specific fear of deep pocket organizations in the new world that wasn’t able to be visually represented until this film. But the medical techniques HAVE to be quite new and shocking for the time. With this and The Swimmer, the establishment sure was yearning in the 50’s-60’s More Severance vibes ssp wrt the clients & employees but HELLLA A Different Man vibes lol Kinda plodded along at points but a unique take on tackling malaise. Always a sucker for full circles though. That man is WET

A gentle dose of Sci-fi in a realistic setting that allows you to ponder about leaving it all behind and starting afresh. With some startling cinematography and a stand-out central performance it was a pretty good way to fill a Sunday night.
