Screenplay needed a lot of work. They don't establish the characters at all. We just get inserted into their lives. We barely know who they are, and we don't get a chance to empathize with them when something bad happens. The bad things that happen are VERY underplayed. They barely talk about people being murdered in public. And the ending is flat-out stupid. She's not rabid or a creature, and any homage to Cronenberg is completely unnecessary.

It was just meh. Not terribly inventive or interesting. The main character was flat, the premise was disjointed. It was only worth watching because I'm bedridden nursing an injury and was a little bored.

Yet another interesting concept ruined by a truly retarded ending. Did you like "The Substance" but think it should have ended half an hour sooner? This one's no different. The movie would have been good if it had ended with some mystery intact - not GREAT, though, cuz the 'cause and effect' they put forward with rabies is utterly preposterous.

“Now, where were we?” - Dr. William Burroughs Why the need to overexplain the story and overbuild the characters? Watch the original and this back to back, and you will see just how films today are destroying the art. 🤪 🤢
