Pyewacket Ratings & Reviews
- Monkey See! Monkey Review!!22 september 2025I went into Pyewacket expecting a chilling dive into spellcraft and dark magic, but what I got felt more like a teenage spin on Paranormal Activity. TLDR -> The film starts off slow, though it does manage to depict a witchcraft ritual with some authenticity. Unfortunately, that’s where the intrigue ends. THIS IS A MAYBE!!! The movie sets the stage with all the expected trappings of a young witch’s world—books, candles, sage, dark makeup, and other occult paraphernalia—but never takes the time to explore the deeper meaning behind these elements. There’s no real explanation of the lore, the consequences, or even the emotional weight of the protagonist’s actions. She performs a ritual, something happens, and we’re left with the vague notion that it can’t be undone. That’s about it. The ending did catch me off guard with a twist I didn’t see coming, but even then, there’s no closure. We’re left wondering what became of the entity she summoned. Unlike other witchcraft-themed films that may skip the historical depth but still deliver on entertainment, Pyewacket feels like it’s missing both. I kept watching, hoping for a climactic confrontation between the girl and the spirit she invoked, but that moment never came. The entity itself barely appears, and when it does, it’s more eerie than terrifying—creepy, yes, but not enough to leave a lasting impression. That said, the film was engaging enough to finish, though I couldn’t help but feel like I should’ve just skipped to the end. If you’re a die-hard fan of witchcraft cinema, it might be worth a watch. But if you’re looking for a thrill ride that immerses you in the occult and leaves you itching to Google more afterward, this one probably won’t satisfy. It’s tame enough for younger viewers, with just enough darkness to spook them, but for seasoned horror fans like myself, it falls short.
