De jonge Michi werkt voor een klein computerbedrijfje in Tokio. Op een dag probeert ze tevergeefs haar collega Taguchi te bereiken. Als Michi bij hem langs gaat, vindt ze hem verhangen aan het plafond. Niemand kan zijn zelfmoord begrijpen. Dan wordt een vreemd beeld gevonden op Taguchi's harde schijf. Eén voor één raken Michi's collega's in de ban van de afbeelding. Uit angst om zelf aangetast te worden, slaat Michi op de vlucht. Ze loopt Ryosuke tegen het lijf, een universiteitsstudent wiens vrienden eveneens onder de betovering vielen van het beeld. Ze ontdekken dat een zich razendsnel verspreidend computervirus de oorzaak is voor het vreemde gedrag van hun omgeving.
