It ended better than the rest of the 2/3 of the movie.

Definitely some strong jump scares here but the overarching story of the Featherston's is starting to wear thin. Taking the supernatural happenings all the way back to the 80's when they were kids is a bit much. What's next, home moves that Katie and Kris' grandparents shot on 16mm? I was discussing a story element with my cousin and sister about the Paranormal movies (I'm sure other horror movies did this at the time as well) and it really bothers me how supporting characters go out of their way to not believe the protagonist when they say they are experiencing something supernatural. To the point where it feels like gaslighting. There were countless times in this movie where Dennis not only tells Julie that strange things are occurring but he as actual video proof and Julie brushes it off as "nothing" or "you're being paranoid." Those moments really frustrate me because in real life there's no way any sane, caring person would outright dismiss things like that, especially when concerning their loved ones and/or children. It's one of the tropes I'm thankful has seemingly gone away in recent horror. letterboxd: FilmPhanPA
