May Ratings & Reviews
- James Saenz15 oktober 2025“you can’t see me.” this feels like the complete inverse of jeunet’s amélie. both films follow a young woman with crippling loneliness as she desperately strives to reach out and make a genuine connection. amélie fills me with so much hope and warmth, and this left me so heartbroken; the final ten minutes of the film really feel like a macabre breaking point for both may and the audience emotionally and psychologically. i love how it takes inspiration from the picture of dorian gray and frankenstein to stitch together a tale of isolation that carries itself with a strong audiovisual style, from the soundtrack choices to the idiosyncrasies in may’s wardrobe and entire persona. people say they like weird until a real freak comes along and then they run off scared.
- jonathanmochrie28 oktober 2025Angela Bettis is outstanding in this movie. Extremely good psychological horror.
- NonPlayableContent21 september 2025Having something to say but knowing its going to sound like the wrong thing, what a strong feeling to be able to capture. This whole movie feels so genuine with an attempt to show the effects of loneliness on a fragile mind. I get the hate for Adam since he is a cliché poser saying "i like weird but not that weird", pissed me off on my first viewing and every following time.
- Johan Potgieter2 september 2025Right in the start of this movie you know things are not going to turn out to be a fairytale. This may be the shocking outcome of the loneliness epidemic we hear about so often.
- Kevin Ward6 juli 2025This was a total blast. Angela Bettis kills as the titular May, a veterinary technician that struggles with her own socially awkwardness. Despite her own loneliness and isolation, May discovers that she has a sure hand at bringing other people together. This is such a fun flick. In addition to Bettis, Anna Faris is as delightful as ever. Really loved her in this. Worth checking out this hidden gem from. TW: For those that don’t like pet violence, a cat meets an untimely demise in this.
