Jean Valjean,a former convict sentenced to galleys for stealing a single loaf of bread, recover his freedom after nineteen years of penal colony. Further to his meeting with bishop Magloire, he decides to change his life and to become honest. But his past eventually catches up and Valjean has to run away again. He decides however to help an orphan entrusted by its mother to a couple of innkeepers, the Thénardier, which see in this child only a slave and an additional mouth to be fed. Jean Valjean eventually convinces the innkeepers to let him leave with the girl and he bring her to live in Paris. It is there that he start living under the false name of Fauchelevant and that Cosette will find love ten years later. However Valjean past continue to haunt him, in the form of Inspector Javert who didn't let go. Based on the novel by Victor Hugo. This version have been release in U.K. on the Kids Cartoons Collection label and in France and Québec in a french dub, however it seems unavailable in the U.S.
