- Richard12 oktober 2025Final Yamato is a grand farewell, melancholic, ambitious and unapologetically epic. The Yamato faces its last mission: stop the water planet Aquarius from flooding Earth. It’s a story soaked in sacrifice, legacy and cosmic scale. The animation and orchestral score are gorgeous, especially “Symphony of Aquarius.” The battles are massive and the emotional beats, especially Okita’s return, hit hard. But the pacing drags and the new villains feel undercooked. It’s beautiful, but bloated. Still, for longtime fans, it’s a fitting send off. Not perfect, but sincere and that counts.

Het Galman Rijk werd vernietigd, maar de planeet Galmania nog niet, door een toevallige botsing van sterrenstelsels. De Bolar Federatie werelden waaronder Planet Bolar worden hierdoor vernietigd. De Yamato, terug onder het commando van Captain Okita, ontmoet de planeet Denguil te laat om zijn humanoïde beschaving te redden van overspoeling door de water planeet Waterman. De overlevende Denguili, een krijger ras die geloven dat alleen de sterken moeten overleven, zijn van plan om Aquarius te gebruiken om de Aarde te overspoelen en de mensheid te vernietigen, om zo een nieuwe thuis te creëren voor hun ras.
