Exit 8 Ratings & Reviews
- Niztradamus19 uur geledenExit 8 could have been really good as a short but as it stands as a movie at full feature length I had trouble staying awake. The sound design is for the most part excellent. I also quite enjoyed the character development and felt like the whole movie was an allegory for becomming ready to be a father and not repeating the mistakes of the past. That being said, after 45 minutes I was really looking forward for this to end. The repetition and inability of seemingly all characters to use their eyes was astonishing. Also their overreaction when failing felt very silly to me. Like toddlers throwing a tantrum if something doesn't workout the first time. If I ever get stuck in a backrooms type situation, I hope it's this one. I'd be out within 10 minutes. I would love to give this movie half a star more but that would make it average and it sure falls short of that. Its characters are missing the brain cells and the story the pacing to get an average rating from me. Man, this could have been so much better as a short. What a shame.
- enochar17 april 2026Intense, engaged the whole way through
- Jacob Thompson8 februari 2026This movie has been going on for over 10 hours. PLEASE HELP!
- Timeless Cinema31 oktober 2025Exit 8 is an intriuguing mystery that's feels undercooked, but is still enjoyable. If you enjoy backrooms (aka labyrinth) concepts, it's cool to see. The game Exit 8 also pairs well alongside the film.

- MrTrivet20 januari 2026A Japanese take on the concept of backdoors, it’s an adaptation of a video game I haven’t played, yet it stands strongly on its own. The narrative is gamified, often shifting between first- and third-person perspectives, with action structured around repeated activities that feel akin to the curiosity-driven language of video games. It could have been tedious, but the filmmakers maintain a careful balance between mystery, horror, and drama. I especially appreciated the two main threads: social indifference, and the anxiety surrounding parenthood, particularly from a male perspective. The cinematography and pacing make moments that might have felt mechanical immersive and tense. It’s engaging, thoughtful, and consistently compelling - a rare case of a film based on a game that works brilliantly as cinema, and I’m now curious to explore the game itself to see how much of this comes from the source material versus sheer cinematic skill.
- James Saenz15 april 2026if i had a nickel for every time i watched a horror film adaptation of a one hour indie video game in theaters this year, i’d have two nickels; which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. this one was way better. we love möbius strips and liminal spaces.
- sin.215 april 2026Exit 8 is a sharp, inventive adaptation that fully commits to its video game roots without feeling gimmicky. It translates interactivity into tension with confidence, while delivering surprisingly complex characters that add real emotional weight.
- DOUGFLIX15 april 2026Worth a watch
- Burnharm11 april 2026Exit 8 (2025) has a really disturbing but fascinating concept. I have not played the video game it is based on, but after watching the film, I definitely want to. It’s a very interesting movie that creates an unsettling atmosphere and keeps you curious all the way through.
- gnrrain10 april 2026Taking an extraordinarily small game and turning it into a 90 minute movie that was wholly enjoyable to watch and had me invested in every character on screen is exactly the reason I love horror that doesn't come from the US. I have no idea what I truly expected out of this little movie, but what I got was more than what I assumed. Keep an open mind, not everyone will make the same decisions you might make, and not everyone will see small details you might see. Loved this and will watch it again.
- marshalsea19 maart 2026Solid indie horror. No gore needed, just mining the uncanny valley. See the normal idiots who can't empathise complaining about how if they were the character they wouldn't do x, y, z... ignore these and go watch yourself. Interesting to see how a concept game was turned into a rather great little movie - and managed to not commit the normal sin of US idiots of inserting their ego - so it's faithful.
- Spanktacular8 maart 2026Perfectly encapsulates the bewildering dread-terror of your ex-girlfriend telling you she's pregnant with your baby.
- Rowan Krzysiak21 februari 2026It's hard to know if knowing the game this is based on helps or hinders enjoyment. What I can say is that if considering that source, this is about as good a movie translation possible and I found it pretty enjoyable. If the main conceit wasn't pulled directly from the game I'd have likely scored it higher.
- Cameron9 februari 2026Was brilliant could have had better ending though
