Karl Urban and FPS scenes at the end of the movie are the only good thing about DOOM.

As someone that grow up playing Doom in all it's flavours. I can understand why some may not love this take on the copular game. As a movie by itself I found it entertaining and a nice watch. I enjoyed the nostalgic moments that mirrored the game. I think they come close to capturing the feeling of imminent dread you experienced while playing the game. If you go into this movie expecting a fun, action and gory monsters you will enjoy yourself.

Doom crawled out of the bargain bin where I found it and honestly, that’s exactly where it should’ve stayed. Marines with big guns, monsters on Mars and yet somehow it manages to feel like a discount knock off of its own game.

This goes on for about an hour longer than they had material for.

“Pure guilty-pleasure chaos — made for fans, by fans.” Forget the critics — if you grew up on the Doom games, this movie hits the sweet spot. It’s loud, gory, and gloriously over-the-top, just like a good fragfest should be. Karl Urban brings gritty intensity, while The Rock (before he was Dwayne Johnson) goes full beast mode in one of his most brutal early roles. The film knows exactly what it is — a no-apologies, sci-fi action rampage. And that first-person shooter scene? A straight-up love letter to gamers. It’s cheesy, yes. But it delivers the monsters, guns, and Mars-based mayhem we signed up for. Not high art — just high adrenaline. For fans of the franchise, it’s a cult classic that doesn’t pretend to be anything else. Hell has never looked this fun.

If you're a fan of the game, much like so many other adaptations of game stories, this will disappoint you. If you're a fan of action and guns and horror... This will also disappoint you, unless you're between the ages of 10 to 13 and have no idea what a good story consists of or needs.
