I'll admit that this movie is pretty much trash, but it never really pretends to be anything other than what it is. Bruce Campbell, basically the king of trash, is even in here. The effects are terrible. The acting is subpar. The premise is stupid. The dialog is completely unbelievable. I loved it. I am "Herkermer Homolka, formerly of Romania. Free now of the chains of Ceaușescu, traveling the world, and doing good."

Congo is entertaining to a degree, with some fun adventure moments and decent effects for its time. The jungle setting and mysterious ruins offer a nice backdrop, and there’s a certain nostalgic charm in its mix of action and sci-fi. However, the plot feels pretty thin and predictable, and the characters don’t get enough development to really care about them. Some of the dialogue and acting come off a bit cheesy, which might be a turn-off for some. Overall, it’s an okay watch if you want something light and a bit silly, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking or memorable.

I love this movie, although I get all the negativity surrounding it. It's pretty ludicrous, but I can't fail to get swept up in Currys audition for Dracula, Hudson, Campbell, etc. The fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously, and if you just allow yourself to be taken along on its journey, about Amy, the talking ape (that I find is done with some great puppetry and the talking part is delicately handled), you'll end up enjoying this as much as I did!

Just a classic from my personal childhood. 80s and 90s movies like these were just always so outrageous. Scenery is mostly lovely? But yeah, its just gorillas, yall! Eyeball scene gets me every time! 5.5/10, beers and a friend or two make it a fun watch!
