Alan Rickman gives a performance that resonates all the documentary footage of Hilly with a wry, disaffected appreciation for similar persons of the subsequent generation. And seeing Snape and Weasley both in crude form is worth the cover. Is it accurate? Dunno. But it’s hella fun.

De film volgt het verhaal van Hilly Kristal's club in New York dat begon als een locatie voor Country, Bluegrass en Blues (CBGB) en uiteindelijk uitgroeide tot de geboorteplaats van de underground rock 'n roll en punk. Wanneer Kristal moeite heeft om bands te boeken voor de club opent hij de deuren voor andere rockmuziek. De enige eis was dat het originele muziek moest zijn, geen top 40 of covers. Hilly Kristal groeit uiteindelijk uit tot de peetvader van de punk die bands als Blondie, Television, Ramones, Talking Heads, Dead Boys en The Police een kans heeft gegeven.
