The first time I watched it, heart strings were gently pulled. The second time, a little teary-eyed. The fifth time, I couldn't hold back the throat locking, chest aching, water works. Added it to my collection of how to make a grown man cry. Beautifully put together, without all the hollywood explosions.

- destr0yr13 september 2026I absolutely love Arrival. This movie is a masterpiece—the music, the cinematography, the atmosphere, the twist, and that final, heartbreaking realization. It’s a deeply emotional and thought-provoking film, not an action-based science-fiction movie. Beneath the story of first contact is a beautifully understated love story and a meditation on time, grief, choice, and what it means to embrace life even when you know it will eventually break your heart. Once everything falls into place, the entire movie takes on a new meaning. It’s haunting, intelligent, profoundly moving, and about as close to cinematic perfection as a film can get.

It’s a slow, thoughtful, brain-melting meditation on language, perception, and time, basically Independence Day for people who read books without pictures. Amy Adams is deciphering grief one inky Heptapod swirl at a time. These aliens don’t speak, they mist-blast entire concepts into the air like intergalactic Rorschach tests, and somehow it makes total sense. By the end, the twist doesn’t explode, it just lands in your chest like a memory you haven’t lived yet, quietly rearranging your understanding of time. There’s no war, no special effects show, just the terrifying realisation that communication might be the most powerful weapon, or gift, we’ve got.

- 23_Skidoo8 september 2026When you look up "Sci-Fi" in the dictionary, this movie is the one that should top the list. This is among my top five favorite sci-fi movies. It doesn't shy away from the SCIENCE, but it presents it in a way integral to the story, which only elevated this to an instant classic. It has infinite rewatchability. Adams is a Joy, a treasure. Renner represents us, the audience, in his reveling of her character and her bravery. Watch it, then watch it again. Bravo!

- M08Y1 oktober 2025Arrival is one of the more unique and interesting sci-fi movies in the last 10 years. I'll be entirely honest, I didnt think much of Arrival when I saw it in 2017, but rewatching it now I certainly can see it's merit. While hardly thrill-a-minute, Arrival does manage to make an engaging film out of what seems to be a fairly mundane idea. As it turns out, the idea of a language professor decrypting an Alien language is actually quite interesting. Not much actually happens in the film, but don't let that trick you into thinking it's boring. The audio and visuals were all spot on even if slightly uneventful. There is next to no spectable in Arrival.
- Jay Marie Bailey8 juli 2026A very good first contact style of movie. Solid cast and direction, felt the score lacked slightly. Given the movie falls just under the 2 hour mark I did feel like the ending was a little rushed and could of easily been expanded upon but I guess with the deliberate slow pacing of the movie this was intentional. CGI didn't feel over used and was well implemented. A solid attempt and well worth watching
