⭐⭐⭐½ – A Dance in the Snow – Gentle connections in a predictable season A Dance in the Snow is a quietly touching Christmas film that leans more on sincerity than surprise. The story centres on a “snow-phobic” girl on the autism spectrum, and that backstory gives the film a warmth and emotional grounding that lifts it above the most forgettable entries in the festive-TV pile. It treats its subject with kindness, and while it doesn’t dig especially deep, it never feels cruel or exploitative. Much of the drama comes from a mother and daughter trying to protect each other from disappointment by hiding their own plans and surprises. Because communication is already difficult between them, those good intentions naturally turn into misunderstandings. It’s a simple setup, but it works, and it creates a few genuinely sweet moments along the way. Of course, this is still very much a Hallmark-style Christmas movie. You know exactly where it’s heading almost from the opening scene, and there are no real narrative risks taken. But within that predictable framework, there are small, meaningful connections that make the runtime pleasant rather than tedious. It’s not essential viewing, and it won’t linger long after the credits roll, but it’s a decent, kind-hearted seasonal watch — especially if you’re in the mood for something gentle rather than showy. ☕ Drink Pairing A mug of hot chocolate — comforting, familiar, and sweet enough to match the film’s tone without asking too much of you.
