- Michael Surber29 maart 2025Utterly fantastic. Timothee Chalumet absolutely nails Bob Dylan here but he is surrounded by a stellar cast in this one. If you know your music history, this biopic hits all the highlights of his rise to fame. Do not miss it. Even if you aren't a fan already, it is still the best way to spend your next 2+ hours. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
- Atronix.18 september 2025I love movies, particularly when they make sense and are done well. I watch them all the time, some more than once, few, more than that. This is one of the latter. I bought only two movies to keep forever in the last two decades. This movie is one of them. I think that says it all.

I took everything at face value and didn’t hate it but music biopics are so cliché it’s gotta have something pretty spectacular or at least unique about it nowadays. Just feels like a tough project with the selected cast and characters. That said, I do think the entire supporting cast does a very good job with what they’re given. However, I don’t think Mangold does anything exceptional tho he is adept. Timothee sings great and does a great impersonation but I can’t help but feel Cate Blanchett may have done it better. A nice ending but it doesn’t fully redeem a lackluster film imo

De 19-jarige Bob Dylan arriveert in 1961 in New York City op zoek naar zijn held, de zieke Woody Guthrie. Hij wordt omarmd door de New Yorkse folkscene (Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Joan Baez en anderen) die zijn talent erkennen. Hij vindt optredens in clubs in de binnenstad en wordt al snel een sensatie en krijgt een contract bij Columbia Records. Van daaruit stijgt Dylan op naar de status van een cultureel fenomeen, maar uiteindelijk stapt hij over van de volksmuziek terwijl hij de elektrische gitaar omarmt, wat zijn fans in verwarring brengt en de muziekgemeenschap die hem voor het eerst opnam teleurstelt.
