Lieutenant Colonel Solovets and his wife Yulia will spend New Year's Eve on a ship, where the Main Department of Internal Affairs is holding a New Year's banquet, and where he is to be awarded the medal "For Valor in Service." The holiday turns into a tragedy: the ship ends up in the hands of terrorists. They demand a ransom under the threat of blowing up the ship along with the hostages.
