- BrightEmberApril 21, 2026Surprisingly fun and very engaging movie, enjoyed this take on Sherlock Holmes. It's certainly got more action than you'd expect, but there being so many different takes on this character makes it all the better. The effects are extremely impressive for the year of release, it feels far more modern than it is. Quite deserving of the praise it gets in that department especially.
- YoursTrulyYoshiJune 2, 2025It sure is a movie. You know how you can tell there is a nice concept or idea, but the execution doesn't do justice to it? This is an excellent example of that. Mystery, grittiness adventure, a bit of archeology. Yet the execution does not know what to do with it and instead of diving into it head first, it worries a bit more about being yet another 80s movie, dedicating an important amount of its runtime to whimsy and fluff. Not a terrible movie by any means, but one that you can live perfectly without watching. Maybe if you're younger you'll enjoy the dark aspects a bit more as they are pretty interesting. Those watching in Latin Spanish may also get the short end of the stick as the dub feels low in quality, not because of the actors, but because of the mixing. It feels particularly empty, so music and sound effects are drowned. Funnily tho, I never imagines Alfonso Obregón would do such a nice job portraying an elegant femboy. I wonder if he's done more of that kind of characters. I am also sad to announce this movie is not woke enough. 😭😭😭😭 Sadly, this feels like little more than programming filler for a Sunday afternoon in Channel 5. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
