- Michael SurberSeptember 27, 2025A very interesting concept for a film. I can't imagine being put into this situation! I really loved what they did with it. That said, it's not for everyone. I have some other musical friends that didn't like it at all. Their loss. There's one scene in particular that will stick with you. It would have worked without it but it's a better film because they included it. If you've watched, you will know what I'm talking about.
- StuSPlexOctober 12, 2025A great feel good movie. Hard to see what Ellie see in Jack though.
- ርልዪረSeptember 27, 2025Imagining a world without the Beatles would be tough to think about, but this film pulls it off well. The film gives off a realistic vibe of the UK; how we manage to awkwardly laugh off our problems and just carry on while usually either moaning about everything or focusing on something with a more positive impact. If you are a Beatles fan, it's fun to watch all the extra references subtly added in. It's very openly a 'fun' kind of film, so the plot in itself is simple, yet works, even if it can slightly get away from you in some areas; you have to keep in mind that it doesn't entirely focus on realism and is a film about the world somehow going into an alternative universe where the most popular things never had an impact. We've all sat and thought about these parallel worlds every now and again, so to see a film actually do it in the UK is nice, as America gets enough representation as it is. Personally I wasn't too much of a fan of the love story as I feel that it's a bit cliche and too easy to rely on for a plot, but at the same time I can understand why it works for the film, so that's just my subjective preferences showing through. It did remind me a little bit of Notting Hill, which is one of my favourite films, so I suppose I can't complain too much. Parts of the film stick in my memory quite well, so I must have enjoyed it in order for that to happen. Overall, Yesterday is a nice film to go and see if you're interested in watching something fun, especially if you're a Beatles fan. Though do be aware that they will get stuck in your head for hours afterwards.
