Where the Wild Things Are Ratings & Reviews
- sopula10 March 2026the monsters are very cool, i'm guessing they're made of some combination of real big things and digital effects, the way they move is weighty and satisfying which is interestingly contrasted with the film itself being not satisfying at all. I've never quite understood why you'd make a "kids movie" that kids will obviously dislike it is definitely an interesting story with all the dream metaphor stuff going, all the monster's personalities are nicely and clearly a child's imagination, and the goodbye at the end is quite sad. overall i'd just say it is a difficult movie
- Davey’s Wonderful World1 February 2026This movie is an underrated masterpiece! This is also one of the greatest movies ever made based on children’s book, it knows that children are not idiots, and this movie goes all in on the dark themes and psychological aspects about being a child because this movie are coming of age story all about Max learning to feel for his mom and understand that she is only human and has her own struggles. The cast is also phenomenal. It finds that perfect middle round of actors who are not like Hollywood elite but are also not obscure either. I also really enjoyed the puppet tree work on the wild things in particular, especially Carol and The Bull just an absolute marvelous masterpiece that everyone should see at least once 9.2/10
