- Matthias_812April 2, 2025The overall arc of The Purge with werewolves was pretty dope. The look of the beasts were very reminiscent of Dog Soldiers' design, the transformations actually weren't half bad. The hardest parts of a werewolf movie were succeeded. Where does Werewolves slip up? Everything outside of werewolf mayhem. Setting up the first half hour was nearly unbearable. Cheap shoddy production, acting, nothing felt natural, and every light source has a damn light flare/leak. Michael Bay and JJ Abrams would blow their loads to the countless flying light balls. When the sun goes down- Werewolves salvages itself and shit got really fun. With some better production- something with a little more personality, and a smidge more financial support this could had been talked about more. Just barely satisfied a genre fan such as myself and that's more than I expected going in.

The film presents an amazing concept for a film but then due to possibly lack of budget or just poor writing fails to deliver on the goods. Maybe it would have been better as a tv show?

I think with a better budget and better actors and a little rewrite this could be what the trailers made it out to be. there were some fun effects and the main guys body was on point, but that lighting director should be directed to a new profession I mean what the hell man!!!!

In all seriousness I can get behind some campy ass b movie horror action, for this one though it would of been much better with some brewskis. The werewolves look so goofy and the longer the go the dumber it gets. Between the punk rocker werewolve to werewolves getting shot platoon machines down style. I don’t know why Frank Girillo insists on being a b movie star, he really is good in a lot of this stuff. The best part is my wife thought we were seeing The Wolfman and 30 mins in she’s like this is a long intro. When I figured out what she thought and told her we couldn’t stop laughing the rest of the movie.

- N8January 25, 2025It’s bad, but I wouldn’t even put it in the bottom 5. There’s some real trash out there. I didn’t love it and it had some big problems but it had a kind of bootleg John Carpenter vibe that I appreciated, and I thought the werewolves looked pretty good which is a win in and of itself.
