Urban Legend Ratings & Reviews
- BarsNoHooksDecember 11, 20251.5/5 Cheesy slasher. I will say the screaming is not tolerable at all it's quite annoying... Which is a horrible damn thing for a slasher.
- FranBizJuly 22, 2025I love the idea of using urban legends in movies. This movie is definitively a product of its time, and what I mean by that is that it gives me Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and other late 90s/ early 2000s vibes. The movie has a decent cast, and I enjoy the plot
- carter2882November 26, 2025Urban Legend is an underrated horror classic. I’m personally a big fan of slasher movies, and this was just right up my alley. The movie is one of the most fun slasher movies out there, not taking itself seriously. The cast is great and a lot of fun to be around. The kills are great as well!! I thought the score was also creepy and builds up tension in the film. I also thought the twist was great and executed well. So overall a horror classic in my eyes and a movie I will not stop recommending!
- Danny BSeptember 6, 2025Urban Legend is a fun horror movie with some good kills that keep it entertaining. It has that late 90s slasher vibe that still works. The winter coat,,, . Everyone is wearing the same one and it looks like they all bought it on sale at the same store. It makes the mystery feel kind of lazy. They could have found a smarter way to make us wonder who the killer was. Even with that flaw, it is still a solid and enjoyable watch.
- anaj434August 25, 2025A good movie to add to the horror Marathon, something different, to me its an old classic.
- Kevin WardJuly 6, 2025“She’s probably shacked up with a guy, or girl….or farm animal. Weren’t you ever 18?” -The Dean This is way more playful and meta than I remember. While that’s probably more in an attempt clone Scream’s DNA, I’d say it works pretty damn well. Casting of Robert Englund as the Urban Legend professor, Pacey turning off the Paula Cole needle drop, and the group at the end re-casting the role of Brenda with “The Noxzema Girl”. There was even a solid Richard Gere gerbil reference. Fun stuff. The only cast member that I had remembered before firing this up was Rebecca Gayheart. Had totally forgotten that Jared Leto and Tara Reid were in this. I actually thought it was an Urban Legend that Tara Reid used to be famous, but I stand corrected. (She’s awful in this, by the way). There music is awesomely over-scored, particularly in the opening kill sequence. It also has one of those terribly bad jump scares with a loud musical sting, when it just Tara Reid walking in the library. I’ve always loved the premise and I think the film is a super fun slasher watch even if some of the kills are ridiculous. Gayhearts performance was really fun in the final act, too.
