This is the second best western after Once Upon a Time in the West. Everyone's already said everything else.

Stunning work! Eastwood sews together pieces of violence and quiet dialog into a mosaic of false glory, lost youth, regret and actual honor from tattered and drunken memories, lies and self deceit. Nothing is forgiven. We all have it coming. The only integrity in the film is from the most wicked of them all. He's also the most honest.

Classic gritty Clint Eastwood! If you like westerns, it has it all. Quick move too, no dragged out plots.

A slow and sad relapse into damnation. William Munny tries to live a new life as a family man, but is unfortunately drawn back into old (evil) habits. A great movie and an incredible performance by Clint Eastwood. Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman are also excellent, as usual.

Good film. It raises questions about morality, justice, and the evil of society. I have to say that I quite like the spectacles of the film.

This movie is my favorite of all time. Excellent acting, actors, story and dialog. Just a masterpiece of cinema.

Unforgiven stands as one of the greatest neo‑westerns ever made, a film that reshaped the genre with its stark realism and emotional weight. Directed by and starring Clint Eastwood, it follows a worn‑down former outlaw who reluctantly returns to violence for a final job. Eastwood’s performance is haunting—quiet, weary, and deeply human—capturing a man shaped as much by regret as by reputation. The film’s portrayal of the American West is startling and somber, stripping away myth in favour of moral ambiguity and harsh truth. Its supporting characters, from Gene Hackman’s chilling sheriff to Morgan Freeman’s loyal companion, enrich the story with depth and tension. The pacing is deliberate, allowing every moment to breathe, while the settings evoke a world on the brink of change. With its flawless storytelling and unflinching tone, Unforgiven helped redefine the modern western, proving the genre could still be profound, complex, and unforgettable.

Clint Eastwood does it again, this time he even outdoes all his prior films. The casting was perfect, the writing was perfect and the cinematography was quite nice too. Also this film ends an era for Eastwood being his last Western. All the accolades and awards are completely justified for this great story.

A classic! Clint Eastwood's portrayal of a man grappling with his own morality and haunted by his past is nothing short of captivating. The way the film dives into the complexity of vengeance and redemption makes for one of the most satisfying conclusions in cinema.

Great depth with Eastwood, Hackman and Freeman. Things don't really go the way you want them to but I think that adds to the likability.

Great movie. IMO the only good "recent" westerns are The Unforgiven in 1992 and Young Guns in 1988. Very different movies though. I need to watch this again.
