- ShaydeknightOctober 21, 2025A genuinely funny premise and a clever twist on the horror genre, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil takes the "killer hillbilly" trope and turns it delightfully on its head. Alan Tudyk is always a pleasure to watch, and he and Tyler Labine make a terrific comic duo. The film is very silly, but that's part of its charm. The dialogue could have been sharper, but it serves its purpose. Overall, it's a fun, self-aware romp. You could claim it's a horrific comedy film, like Shaun of the Dead or Zombieland, or you could cross the street and claim it's a comedic horror movie like The Cabin in the Woods or The Monkey. In my opinion, Tucker and Dale sits right in that sweet spot in between, gleefully poking fun at both sides.
