Where to Watch Toy Story 4
- LibertyMediaMay 10, 2026Those that find the Toy Story series wholesome and fun will find this movie perhaps one of the best in the series, if not the best. The story telling is top notch and more nuanced than previous Toy Story movies and the graphics caliber for lighting, the models and environment, IFKYK, are utterly jaw dropping. I mean, truly astonishing even in 2026. Dynamic reflections via ray tracing, global illumination - the list goes on. Absolutely beautiful work went into the making of this title. AND, the Toy Story gang lives on! Truly a series to cherish for decades.
- vangh1April 7, 2026So I finally watched this. I wasn't actively boycotting it, or anything like that. I just really didn't feel a need to see it when it was so clear that Toy Story 3 was meant to be a finale for this world and these characters, and this only came about as a means to milk another franchise for more dollars. I have to say, it wasn't bad. It wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad. Which is kind of exactly what I expected. But the Toy Story franchise was always more than competent so by comparison, this one being "not bad" makes it the worst. I really liked the walk and talk scene Woody and Sporky have on the shoulder of the highway. Both the script and the cinematography of the sequence are well executed. The intro scene we get for Gabby Gabby and the Dummies perfectly played notes of creepy, unnerving, disturbing without going over the line for a kid's movie. The shared arc that Woody and Bo have is surprisingly strong and satisfying, makes for great plot momentum, and pays off well. I thought that Duke Kaboom's origin, development, and the culmination of it all felt pretty hollow, unfortunately. The amusement park as a setting felt highly under utilized, especially compared to the Antique Store, which looked great and felt full of life and detail. All in all, worth a watch, especially since Toy Story 5 looks like it actually has a meaningful new take on the Toy's world being upended again.
- LivewireAdminFebruary 3, 2026Toy Story 3 ended so perfectly that I kind of avoided 4 thinking that they would fumble any future story they attempted to tell in this universe with these toys. I'm happy to say that once again I was wrong in doubting the empathy machine that is Pixar. Really, really enjoyed the Woody/Bo plot in this, which is good because I wasn't really feeling the "Forky" story that was being told for the first third of the film. I had the stupidest grin on my face whenever Keanu Reeves' Duke Caboom was on screen. Just a hilarious character and another great introduction into the already stacked roster. The "villain" of the story, Gabby, had a genuinely interesting arc as well. The ending definitely caught me off guard, in terms of how emotional it was and genuine surprise at where they decided to end the movie. I realize now that if Pixar can find the right stories to tell, they can keep this series going forever. We'll probably refer to different sequels/trilogies as the "Andy" years or the "Bonnie" years or whatever kids come next and I'll be there for it. Genuinely interested in 5 now.
- Rowan KrzysiakFebruary 13, 2025This is not Toy Story 1 or 2, it's not even 3. Don't try to convince yourself it is good because it's not, it is bad. The graphics are incredible but even there the humans now jar as their cartoonish design contrasts with the ultra-realism of everything else. Pointless. Sad. Avoid.
