Toy Story Ratings & Reviews
- Ddoughnut7d agoThis film is so overrated. There are so many plot holes people don't talk about, and everyone is just an unlikable jerk
- Daniel GustavssonOctober 12, 2024Very cute movie and a classic. Today it feels a slight bit childish compared to other Pixar films that came after it, but it's very charming never the less. Animation is great, especially for the time, and the support cast is alright.
- Halim MellickMay 3, 2025I was 6 when Toy Story was released and I was obsessed with it into my teens. I didn’t know at the time I was witnessing the birth of a new era of animation. Watching the progression from Toy Story 1-4 is a fascinating evolution in 3D animation. I didn’t know Bo-Peep was made from porcelain until the 4th movie. On a recent rewatch I was still surprised at how well the animation has held up it certainly doesn’t look or feel “1995” In retrospect, the birth of this new era of animation put the final nail in the coffin of hand drawn cartoons and would put a stranglehold on animation for at least a decade moving forwards. It wouldn’t be until the Spider-Verse that we would see something new and refreshing. A movie so revolutionary that it changed its own category moving forwards forever
- Eric BakkeOctober 11, 2024Toy Story unexpectedly delves into some darker themes while still maintaining an overall sense of positivity and hope. This film is a timeless classic that sets a new standard in animation, leaving a lasting legacy in the genre.
- Danny GomezMarch 25, 2025A classic. Decided to watch since the 30th anniversary is this year and it never disappoints. Still a captivating story.
- vangh1February 26, 2025Ok, so I've been thinking about this a lot (because I've seen this movie 8 or 9 times over the last year and a half). Do the toys drop into motionless toy mode as an involuntary physical response (that can be overridden with effort as seen multiple times in the series) or as a conscious choice for their safety and the greater good? If it's the latter, there's absolutely no way a Buzz Lightyear would play along. If it's the former, why does he not just ignore the impluse every time since he doesn't believe he's a toy and thus doesn't believe its necessary. Or does he not notice blacking out frequently? In which case how do any of them resist that sweet pull from oblivion? Anyway, still an amazing movie chock full of great lines, big laughs, and memorable moments.
