The commander of an American submarine during World War II sets out to destroy the Japanese aircraft carrier which launched the attack on Pearl Harbor. His wife and daughter have been captured by the Japanese and they are using them and other prisoners of war as human shields for the carrier.

You don't want to watch this film for its action, because that's the weakest part. Its strongest is the interaction between Ford and Borgnine, but the script isn't on a par with the actors. Altogether, it makes for an average movie.
