Too Late Reviews
If you are able to overlook the slightly flat ending, Too Late could prove a sufficiently tasty treat.
While it's not exactly going to knock your socks off, "Too Late" winds up being a net positive with its general competency and likeable enough cast.
The scares are nonexistent and not all of the jokes land, but Too Late is a solid warm-up for its creators' next act.
Eye for Film
An uneven but likeable film with the guts to do things differently, Too Late won't work for everyone but its likely to win admirers who will watch it again and again.
Common Sense Media
Jeffrey M. Anderson
Perhaps a metaphor for showbiz backstabbing, this terror comedy creates a realistic standup comedy nightclub atmosphere but seems timid about going much further with either its jokes or its horror.
Too Late is worth a look for its oddball vibes and roster of skillful comedians. Considering this is the director's feature-length debut, it does establish D.W. Thomas as a filmmaker to watch.
Tough to call Too Late a comedy-horror flick, but it is certainly a comedy, with a little touch of horror.
What To Watch
'Too Late' might get heckled for its lack of horrors, but tells a poignant story from a woman's perspective in an industry where she's surrounded by monsters.
A deliciously named character, Bob Devore, headlines the similarly well-titled 'Too Late,' and that's all anyone really needs to know about this low-budget, lotta-fun horror/comedy.
More a cute idea for a horror comedy than one that pays off with laughs
The two leads play off each other with aplomb, and director D.W. Thomas maintains a fine balance between the goofy and the grotesque.
Too Late is billed as a cozy horror-comedy, and I'll admit to not having any idea what that meant. It means it's a comedy with horror elements but it's super soft on scares.
Killer Movie Reviews
Deadpan and droll in its exploration of monsters and their enablers, it doesn't so much expose anything new about what people are willing to do in order to succeed as present it with a puckish flair and a wicked sense of irony.
Firing the Canon
Too Late's absurdist humor and absurdist heart are all in the right place but it's trying to do too much and ultimately trips over its own ambitions.
The only thing scary about the horror comedy Too Late is that people thought this painfully unfunny dud was good enough to make into a movie. It's a fake feminist movie [where] a woman who wants men to be killed [is] supposed to be 'female empowerment.'
Pop Culture Leftovers
Don't go into this film hoping for the gore of the Saw franchise or the ridiculousness of the Scary Movie series. This is more lite PG-13 gore, nevertheless quite enjoyable.
They're all good. More of a smart throwaway than anything great, Too Late is nonetheless a likable horror comedy, with considerably more emphasis on the funny part of that equation.
The movie takes on a lot - and most of the time, it does a decent job. The problem becomes, it deals with so much nothing stands out. Fun, but unmemorable.
Lingers on the fringes of dark comedy and horror, but derives a lot of grisly, cheeky fun out of its main idea.
Rincón de cine
Good for the filmmakers, who with a limited budget, an original idea, and a decent script, can literally work wonders. [Full review in Spanish]
