- Joseph Burke23h ago★★★★☆ (4/5) “Together” Is a Visceral Descent Into Intimacy and Mutation Together is a daring, skin-crawling entry into the body horror genre that dares to ask: what happens when connection becomes something far more literal—and far more grotesque—than we’re prepared for? Director [Insert Director’s Name] crafts a story that feels both deeply intimate and disturbingly physical. At its core, Together isn’t just a horror film—it’s an emotional pressure cooker about codependency, love, and the terrifying erosion of individuality. The film’s tone is oppressive in the best way possible, with tension that ratchets up steadily, aided by unsettling sound design and a claustrophobic visual style. ⭐ Pros: • Bold Body Horror Execution: The transformation sequences are a triumph of practical and digital effects, delivering moments that are equal parts mesmerizing and revolting. If you’re a fan of Cronenberg-style horror, you’ll find yourself right at home—albeit squirming in your seat. • A Tight, Intimate Story: The film doesn’t rely on a high body count or jump scares. Instead, it draws horror from emotional vulnerability and physical metamorphosis. It’s psychological, visceral, and lingers long after the credits roll. • Stellar Performances: The leads carry the film with raw, unnerving performances that feel painfully real. Their chemistry (or lack thereof) becomes the movie’s emotional spine, anchoring the more surreal and disturbing sequences in something painfully human. • Themes That Stick: Under the gore and dread, Together explores themes of identity, emotional merging, and the darker side of romantic idealism. It’s horror with something to say—and it says it through every ruptured pore and twisted limb. 🔻 Cons: • Not for Everyone: The pacing is slow at times, and the abstract storytelling may alienate viewers looking for a more traditional horror narrative. It’s a slow burn with a heavy payoff, but not everyone will have the patience to get there. • Ambiguity Overload: While the lack of explanation works to enhance the mystery, some may feel a bit adrift, especially in the final act. If you like your horror neatly tied up with answers, you might find yourself frustrated. ⸻ Final Thoughts: Together is a beautiful, grotesque ballet of flesh and fear. It’s the kind of horror film that doesn’t scream—it whispers until you realize it’s under your skin. Unsettling, unique, and emotionally resonant, it’s a bold entry into modern body horror, and one that deserves to be seen—preferably with the lights off and your sense of comfort firmly left at the door.
- Matthias_8121d agoFalling in love with your "other half" has become terrifying. This Cronenberg-esque love story was a real treat. Packs a punch of uniqueness and keeping the body horror train rolling from where The Substance left off. What's most surprising about Together is actually how funny it is- and I don't mean that as a negative. It's pretty straightforward and simple with little meat to chew on but that doesn't mean the initial viewing is anything less than spectacular.
- Allie TranJuly 1, 2025This is how you do a body horror film. A perfect blend of comedy, horror, and what the **** did I just watch moments.
- Austin Burke3d agoTogether is a horror knockout! Expertly-crafted thrills, bone-chilling imagery, and psyche-twisting trauma make it a must-see. The electric chemistry between our leads anchors the wild ride, with sharp humor slicing through the tension. The tone is perfectly balanced, and it will grip you until the final frame... Still digesting the ending itself, but the journey will stick with you.
- landoisnice6d agoThis movie isn't the scariest, nor the most chilling, but it offers a sick/demented perspective for the viewer to think about. Movie night worthy for sure with your partner or friends.
- RickJuly 23, 2025BRB, Dying This is one for the body horror fans. So many memorable scenes, involving so many different body parts. I appreciated that it didn’t get bogged down in lame exposition. It gave us just enough backstory to realize how sticky the situation really is. Brie and Franco really came together to make something special here. If you like your romantic comedies gooey, goopy, and emotional adhesive you will love this. P.S. I’d recommend this one for a first date!
- Kevin WardJuly 1, 2025Such a fun midnight flick! It’s been so long since I’ve done an actual midnight showing since most “midnighters” seem to start at 10:00. A wild body horror that turns commitment and co-dependency into a nightmarish sacrifice of self identity. Loved the gooey and sticky effects, a number of really unsettling scares and a load of wince-inducing body horror. Alison Brie is the standout, but she’s good in everything. She seems every bit as charming in person, as she does on screen. 😍 Her and Dave Franco’s natural chemistry permeates onto the screen and is a big part of what makes this film work. Neon swooped this up after Sundance and it’s slated for an August 1, 2025 release date. Check it out when you can.
