- Vincent Reggiannini2026年1月12日This movie and Rourke’s performance are utterly convincing and as grim as you can imagine, and most likely endure. His performance is both gripping and emotional. He isn’t an actor portraying a role, he embodies his character in every awkward and painful way. It truly is an Oscar worthy performance. Things are not pretty. All the raw realities of a fading B-Level Professional Wrestler, and all the things he has to do to stay competitive will both repel and amaze you. This is a movie that would probably not work with anyone but Rourke at the center. He represents everything that’s ugly in his life and his life style, with nothing held back or glamorized. As he so devastatingly admits towards the end of the move, he’s nothing but a washed up piece of meat and he has to both come to grips with it and attempt to rebuild his broken relationships. Marissa Tomei is also great in a role that is sure to stun you. She is mysteriously distant and cold, but has her own demons. This is not a Disney film, there are no rainbows or happy endings - but as we all may or may not know, life isn’t always a fairy tale.
