The live show format gives it a fresh sense of immediacy and the cast delivers strong vocals across the board. Visually it’s slick, colorful and clearly made with a lot of enthusiasm. But while it’s fun to watch, it doesn’t have the same magic or atmosphere as the 1978 film. The live TV style keeps everything a bit too clean and controlled and the emotional beats don’t land as deeply. It’s enjoyable, but it never quite reaches the soulful, immersive vibe that made the original so memorable. A solid modern reinterpretation, just not the definitive version.
