A suffocating experience that pays tribute to a classic The Best: It manages to convey a claustrophobic atmosphere of pure despair. The transition of seeing an ordinary home turn into a hostile labyrinth filled with deadly dangers (like the basement or pests) is very well done. If you are looking for a movie that makes you tense and leaves you stressed, this completely delivers. The Worst: Being a remake of the 1957 masterpiece, it inevitably loses some of the magic and philosophical mysticism that the original version with the boat and the fog had. The pacing can feel a bit rushed in some parts. It doesn't deserve the low 5.9 rating it has online. It's a pretty decent sci-fi survival thriller with solid effects and a performance that truly makes you feel the anguish of becoming increasingly smaller and helpless against the world. Ideal to watch if you want guaranteed tension, even if it leaves your nerves on edge.
