- Desmond Dale24 gennaio 2025I didn't love the score and found it often to be a a bit invasive and ill-fitting for the tone of several scenes, but that's the sole significant flaw. It's been absolutely mindblowing to witness such well seasoned directors like Scorsese and Pedro still putting out such compelling, thought provoking works. While Megalopolis garnered all of the headlines as Francis Coppola's potential swan song, Pedro put out a film that could easily serve as his own, though I'm hopeful that's not the case. The dialogue relentlessly pursues the most stirring and poignant questions relating to our mortality and the options we have in dealing with it in a freedom stricken society. Tilda's character conveys a self awareness and honesty that feels like Pedro baring his aging soul to the audience. Julianne Moore's maternal like care for her friend and ability to empathize are indicative of Pedro's ideal euthanasia sitter. Even posthumously, the protagonist's defiant affirmation of love and beauty lives on the through the people and things she's touched.
- tatianapl416 maggio 2026It didn't feel like an Almodóvar movie, maybe the aesthetic but the script...he should stick to spanish, his spanish scripts and characters are more fresh, natural and popular, even if they're fucked up or dying it feels alive, but I didn't feel that in this movie, even if Moore and Swinton were amazing as usual, but I don't know, it missing the heart and a natural dialogue not so forced...I liked it, yeah but I was not thinking "oh that's sello Almodóvar for sure" 😅
- Kevin Ward1 luglio 2025Conversational drama exploring the sunset of life and what it means to come to the end on your own terms. I haven’t seen many Almodóvar films, but each has left me wishing the film would go on three more hours. That’s meant to be both complimentary, but also a criticism. Love the warmth and the relationships on display, but also feel like I never quite get a complete arc with his characters. Loved both Tilda and Julianne in this. Wonderfully acted and probably deserving of more accolades than it will ultimately receive. Have been dealing with a lot of death this year, which has obviously made me ponder my own mortality in a way that I never have before. This certainly conversationally explores a lot about legacy, family and quality of life that is endlessly thought provoking.
