The first manned spacecraft, fired from an English launchpad, is first lost from radar, then roars back to Earth and crashes in a farmer's field, and is found to contain only one of the three men who took off in it; and he is unable to talk but appears to be undergoing a torturous physical and mental metamorphosis.

The Quatermass Xperiment Ratings & Reviews
- Mister ArnMay 21, 2025"The Quatermass Xperiment" stands out as a 1950s sci-fi flick that swaps the conventional atomic monster trope for a creature born from the perils of space exploration. The film portrays local law enforcement and the spacecraft's inventor wielding an improbably broad influence and exhibiting a surprising lack of urgency, which is quite astonishing. While the narrative is well-crafted, the passage of time has rendered its once thrilling elements into something more amusingly quaint.
- Thom Timerson, Trancer HunterJuly 25, 2025Alien amoeba consumes astronauts, zoo animals, and a cactus before deciding to Netflix and chill in Westminster Abbey in this "Blob" precursor from Hammer. Cool story but like a lot of 50s sci-fi and horror, it has more talking officials and less monster action. My 2025 mindset also wonders how those poor animals were really treated during production and the octopus they used for closeups of the creature at the end. Nr. 170/365 Challenge for 2025
