The Purge: Anarchy Ratings & Reviews
- Kevin WardJuly 1, 2025Middling action fare (pretty standard for a Frank Grillo feature) with an on the nose metaphor on economic inequality, and systemic oppression. Plenty of commentary on American gun culture as well. Full disclosure: I’ve not seen the first Purge film, but my it was son’s turn to choose the film and he wanted to see this one, specifically. We enjoyed it for the most part. I just generally have a hard time accepting the premise. That’s part of why I’ve never seen any of these before. I plan to check them out eventually though.
- Daniel GustavssonOctober 13, 2024Much more ambitious and larger in scale than the first movie. It works out surprisingly well for something like this. Note that this is more of an action movie than the first and is in general a departure in style. It's also pretty much a part 1 of 2. The third movie follows this story.
