The Platform 2 Ratings & Reviews
- itsmeeeFebruary 19, 2025I loved the first one, super interesting, lots of great concepts and acting. This one is just super blah.
- HakihikoDecember 16, 2024Missed Opportunities The Platform 2 retreads the same ground as the original, with its familiar allegory of class struggle and survival in the pit. However, the film's greatest flaw is its lack of ambition. Why did they even bother with this prequel? It offers the same message we already received in the first movie without digging deeper into the thousands of mysteries the pit holds. Instead of expanding on the dystopian setting or addressing the many unanswered questions, it feels like the filmmakers played it safe (or they weren't able to go deeper). The visual style and grim tone remain, but the opportunity to push the narrative further and challenge the audience was wasted. There are glimpses of potentially interesting plot threads, but none are fully explored, leaving the experience frustratingly shallow. Overall, The Platform 2 feels like a missed opportunity, a film that hints at depth but ultimately fails to deliver.
- VarunNovember 1, 2024Started out really well, I was excited to see the new concepts they introduced but the movie completely loses steam halfway through. Besides one, all the characters keep changing throughout the movie which leads to an unfocused narrative thread. Instead of the themes being explored further, the movie shifts towards lame action and the messianic cult, which wasn’t very well developed. The CGI is not that great either. The ending is confusing, and the attempts to tie in with the first movie felt cheap. This sequel should’ve done way more world building but it doesn’t succeed at much which is quite disappointing to see since I really enjoyed the first movie.
- jackmeatOctober 19, 2024My quick rating - 5.4/10. This sequel takes a familiar setting and attempts to ramp up the stakes with new layers of tension and moral complexity. A mysterious leader has taken control of the platform system, and survival becomes even more precarious, especially when eating from the wrong plate spells immediate death. The psychological and physical struggles of the characters are put front and center, forcing us to confront our own ideas of solidarity and survival. While the film attempts to capture the brilliance of its predecessor, it falls short in both depth and execution. There’s little explanation for newcomers, so seeing the first movie is almost a requirement to grasp the full weight of the situation. Where the original was a disturbing, thought-provoking reflection on human nature, this sequel feels more like a hollow echo. It moves along solidly for about two-thirds, offering disturbing insights into the brutality of the system and human desperation. But just as it seems to be building momentum, the plot takes a sharp detour, losing the tightness and intensity that made the first Platform so engaging. Though not as entertaining or impactful as the original, this flick still delivers some chilling moments. It’s a disturbing psychological thriller with horror elements, appealing to those willing to peer into the abyss of humanity’s darkest corners. However, the film’s collapse in its final act derails much of its potential, making it a less cohesive and satisfying experience overall.
- marcelpierre.sOctober 14, 2024The first movie was better
- JkrilinOctober 12, 2024“The Hole 2” is a film that leaves you thinking, but doesn't quite live up to its full potential. The premise is super interesting: a vertical prison where inmates live in overcrowded living quarters and face a brutal and unequal food system. The idea of surviving in such a place is unsettling and the tension remains constant. The new character that enters the game brings some freshness and engages you with his fight against the system, but at times the story feels repetitive and leaves you wanting more development. Visually, the movie delivers, with a claustrophobic atmosphere that makes you feel the desperation of the characters. However, although the plot has strong moments, it seems to fall halfway into the philosophical and doesn't go as deep as it could. It's entertaining and thought-provoking, but it doesn't quite exploit all of its ideas. It's good to pass the time, but it won't change your life.
- Madjames23October 12, 2024I felt it was a good prequel but still very much confused at the end
- BorjaOctober 9, 2024La película original era bastante mejor. Se siente algo vacía y no aporta nada nuevo.
