- Oʂɯαʅԃσ Rσყҽƚƚ21. april 2026The success of "The Mummy" in 1999 surprised everyone, and on the day that it opened, Universal Studios greenlit another sequel. The original (the 1999 one) was a lot of fun because it mixed creepy scares with awesome action and goofy humor. The sequel does more or less the same thing, except that the action sequences come pretty much one after another from beginning to end.
- Zokkiie15. februar 2026I’ve watched this one plenty over the years, even if it doesn’t have the same magic as the first. It’s bigger, louder, and more fantasy-heavy, but Brendan Fraser is still a blast and the adventure side of it is hard not to enjoy. I really hope they re-release it before the fourth one with upgraded CGI, because the Scorpion King stuff — and a few other effects here and there — are honestly the only things that really drag it down. Everything else still feels like a fun, pulpy ride.
- Richard9. november 2025I saw it on DVD and while the CGI made me wince, the adventure still swept me away. This sequel picks up ten years after the original, with Rick and Evelyn now married and dragging their son Alex into the chaos. The Bracelet of Anubis kicks off a race against time, undead armies and a resurrected Imhotep who’s still not over his ancient breakup. Oh, and The Rock shows up as the Scorpion King, sort of. I watched this one on DVD, and it felt like a proper living room blockbuster: sweeping score, globe trotting action and enough undead chases to keep the popcorn flowing. The pacing is relentless, fights, tombs, chases and gags stacked like a pulp novel. It’s fun, it’s loud and it doesn’t apologize for being bigger and messier than the first. Yes, the CGI Scorpion King is famously awful, like PlayStation 2 cutscene awful, but the rest of the film still delivers. The characters are iconic, the score by Alan Silvestri is pure goosebumps and the emotional beats (especially Imhotep’s tragic arc) sneak up on you. The Mummy Returns is comfort food for adventure fans. I saw it on DVD, winced at the CGI and still had a blast.
