The story is simple: a greedy real estate developer wants to destroy a dolphin reserve, and a mermaid is sent to assassinate him. What follows is a hurricane of slapstick, some genuinely funny moments (the police station scene is f*ing hysterical), and some that are just plain cringe. The main actress tries way too hard, but Deng Chao and Show Lo as an octopus-man are brilliant. The movie’s eco-friendly message gets a bit lost in all the silliness, but who cares? It's a fun, stupid, and ridiculously over-the-top ride. It's not Chow's best work, but it's a hell of a lot more entertaining than most of the sh out there.
