Au cours d’une mission spatiale habitée sur Mars, et à la suite d’un violent orage, l’astronaute Mark Watney est laissé pour mort et abandonné sur place par son équipage. Mais Watney a survécu et se retrouve seul sur cette planète hostile. Avec de maigres provisions, il ne doit compter que sur son ingéniosité, son bon sens et son intelligence pour survivre et trouver un moyen d’alerter la Terre qu’il est encore vivant. À des millions de kilomètres de là, la NASA et une équipe de scientifiques internationaux travaillent sans relâche pour ramener « le Martien » sur terre, pendant que, en parallèle, ses coéquipiers tentent secrètement d’organiser une audacieuse voire impossible mission de sauvetage.

    They stayed true to Andy Weir’s book and nailed the adaptation. Matt Damon’s great, the story’s clever. And it might not be 100% realistic, but who cares. If you ask me its a top-notch sci-fi survival film.

    A good strong movie about survival and mental fortitude. Matt Damon does a nice job as "Captain Blond Beard" and I am sure he woukd agree a better pirate then spaceman. The story keeps you engaged and rooting for a mission that will never happen in our lifetime, if it does I'll comeback to this review and apologize to everyone who read it.

    The Martuan is one of the best modern sci-fi movies because it feels grounded, intelligent, and human at the same time. Matt Damon made the survival story believable without turning it overly dramatic, and the movie kept me invested by focusing on problem solving, resilience, and hope instead of nonstop action. The science felt realistic enough to pull you into the experience, and Mars itself looked both beautiful and terrifying. A rare sci-fi film that feels inspiring instead of hopeless.

    I absolutely love this movie. I've seen it multiple times. Is it realistic? I think so. Is it accurate? Probably not but I don't care I still liked it.

    A very easy film to love. Damon performed excellently in this film. Some of the scenes on Mars are so beautiful to just watch and take in all the detail. The humour in the film works really well too.

    Admittedly I have watched this more than 10 times. It is space, fun, things blowing up, ketchup and pills, physics, more space, solar panels, rockets, potatoes, Mars, cool cast and overall cool to watch.
