The Killer Ratings & Reviews
- Janko RoettgersJanuary 22, 2025Kinda boring, ultimately.
- unp1ugg3dNovember 15, 2025Awesome movie for a rainy night!
- PhattonySeptember 23, 2025I love assassin movies. This movie really surprised me when it came out. Another graphic novel adaptation, I think that Michael Fassbender and Director David Fincher knock it out of the park. Not to mention the soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails's Trent Reznor. However, it's not everyones cup of tea.
- Joe MurgiaOctober 8, 2025I love how he never actually follows his voice over. He is the unreliable narrator.
- asale41October 4, 2025One star for the just for the cinematography.
- EmilianoSeptember 8, 2025Slow but ok …
- ZercuesJuly 29, 2025Good movie slow paced but doesn't get boring at all
- Kevin WardJuly 2, 2025Love the presence of a lot of Fincher signatures: an opening credit sequence (however, truncated), desaturated color palette, Reznor and Ross score, and extensive voice over narration. The film opens with Michael Fassbender, a professional assassin, as his voiceover recounts the meticulous precision and dedication required of his particular line of work. I love the disconnect between the narration and what actually plays out on screen. Almost instantly, things go awry for the killer as his bullet misses the mark, and when he embarks on his epic revenge quest he breaks virtually every mantra he professes to live by. Stick to the plan. Fight only the battle you’re paid to fight. Empathy is weakness. The Killer exudes some major Fake it til you make it energy. Does he truly believe these things? There’s a running consumerism theme as the killer utilizes every modern convenience and phone app for assistance. WeWork, zipcars, Amazon lockers, gym memberships, etc etc. He’s almost the anti-Tyler Durden in that respect. The Killer is definitely an entertaining watch, and the fight scene midway through is a highlight. Not my favorite Fincher flick by any stretch, but there’s comfort in the distinctly Fincher vibes.
- jackmeatDecember 28, 2024My quick rating - 7.1/10. Fincher's latest cinematic venture is a tour de force that explores the intricacies of the assassin's psyche, expertly played by the incomparable Michael Fassbender. As the tagline suggests, in this film, execution is everything, and thanks to Fincher's directorial prowess, every element falls seamlessly into place. The plot unfolds after a fateful near-miss, thrusting our protagonist into a high-stakes battle against both his employers and his own inner demons. The story takes us on an international manhunt, a journey the assassin insists isn't personal, yet the nuances of his performance reveal a character grappling with a profound internal conflict. Fassbender's portrayal of the assassin is nothing short of captivating. He brings depth and complexity to the character that transcends the traditional mold of a hardened killer. The subtle nuances in his performance allow us to empathize with his struggle, blurring the lines between right and wrong, and turning the film into a gripping exploration of redemption. David Fincher, known for his meticulous attention to detail and masterful storytelling, once again proves his directorial prowess. The film is a visual and narrative triumph, with each scene meticulously crafted to enhance the tension and suspense. Fincher's signature style permeates every frame, creating a dark and immersive atmosphere that adds to the film's overall impact. The supporting cast also deserves accolades, particularly Tilda Swinton in her role as the expert. Swinton's performance is excellent, bringing authenticity to a character that adds layers to the intricate web of the plot. Her interactions with Fassbender's assassin are charged with intensity, contributing significantly to the film's overall dynamic. But this isn't just a story of action and suspense; it's a character study that delves into the human condition. The film challenges conventional notions of morality and explores the possibility of redemption in the most unexpected places. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, balancing heart-pounding action with moments of quiet introspection. In conclusion, The Killer is a triumph for David Fincher and a testament to the acting prowess of Fassbender. With its expertly crafted narrative, stunning visuals, and standout performances, this film is a must-watch for fans of the thriller genre. It's a dark and gripping tale that lingers in the mind, showcasing that, in the hands of a master like Fincher, execution truly is everything.
- VarunOctober 19, 2024The efficient and precise mood of direction, filming, pacing and monologues combined with a good performance by Fassbender and pensive background music really puts you in the mind of a hitman. I respect the vibe Fincher was going for but I don’t think it’s enough to carry a very simplistic plot for 2 hours.
- Don the Darth Knight CORLEONEOctober 18, 2024A brilliant film by Fincher and brilliant performance by Fassbender. A must watch for any true cinophile.
