The International Ratings & Reviews
- Zokkiie15h agoHad only seen this once before and barely remembered anything about it going in. It starts as a pretty decent political thriller—tense, stylish, a little cold maybe—but then the Guggenheim sequence hits and damn, that whole stretch is genuinely great. Really sharp action, chaotic in the best way, and easily the standout part. Clive Owen is solid as always and Naomi Watts does well with what she’s given, even if her role feels a bit underused. Tom Tykwer keeps things moving and the movie looks slick, but the conspiracy stuff can get a little repetitive and it never fully lands emotionally. By the end I liked it more than I expected, mostly because of that one unforgettable action sequence and the overall paranoid vibe. Pretty good, just not one I’d rush back to often
- neuroparadoxJuly 29, 2025Gateway movie for looking into the BCCI bank scandal of the 80s/90s...but somehow less intriguing...a touch fewer bullets and a tad more plot could have made this something really memorable. Still a good watch though. Unrelated: Clive Owen was my choice for Bond after watching Croupier, and the the old BMW short films/commercials they made.
